About the System

This manual describes the CE840 instant issuance system and how to use it. Before you use the system, it must be set up and installed. In most cases, the installation is performed by your system administrator or service provider. Read this manual thoroughly before you begin to use the system. It will help you learn about the features of the system and how to process cards successfully and efficiently.

Each card program has specific features that are important for you to understand. Talk with your supervisor, system administrator, or other knowledgeable person to learn about the features of your card program. This guide provides operator information and describes how to use the various components and perform routine tasks. An additional Installation and Administrators Guide is available for use by administrators or by professionals developing a new system for card production.

The CE840 instant issuance system is used to produce a variety of cards on-site, including financial, identification, retail, and customer loyalty cards. Personalization options include encoding magnetic stripe data, reading or programming smart cards, printing text and images, embossing, and indenting financial data. The system is designed to issue cards at the user’s location (called on-demand or instant issuance).
